本展以「老醫館故事撰寫計畫」為基礎，描繪出嘉義市醫療史的輪廓及其所承載的歷史、空間、故事。透過展示，以人-「醫者」、空間-「醫館」、城市-「醫者町」為核心，展現嘉義市近代醫療文化的特殊性。

嘉義市政府文化局自107年至109年進行老醫館故事的調查蒐集，累積了60間老醫館的精彩故事，並出版3本小手冊(精華版)，也同步建置嘉義市老醫館網站(完整版)，為了讓民眾能更親近與了解老醫館的故事，這些故事轉化為實際的展覽與紙本地圖，本展覽這次的主角們即是挑選位於嘉義市大通二通街區的老醫館，透過圖文的介紹，讓大家能帶著地圖，實際走入老醫館的古往今來，在老醫館的醫路時光中悠遊散策。
