Treasure box of family history

Room is everyone’s most private area at home. People can work, study, rest and even spend time alone in the room. With the increase of age, people’s interests change and their space successively becomes different. In the exhibition, “grandparents’ treasure cabinet”, “the world of baseball fan” and “father’s study” display the family members’ interests and daily lives. The memory of food passes on the taste. Kitchen is where we cook at home every day. The utensils are connected with family love and memory. We walk in the toolroom and it recalls us of the father’s hard work in the forestry center during our childhood. Sometimes he held the timber saw higher than humans and it was scary and sometimes he carefully made his favorite ceramic work!

Chiayi time machine

“Chiayi City east public retail market”, the most ancient traditional market in Chiayi, also called “east market”, is in the lane next to Chenghuang Temple. It is filled with the climate of 1980s. At dawn, the air is cool. The light has been already on in the area of butchers. A mother and a daughter are turning the deep-fried dough sticks next to the deep fryer for the venders of Chiayi City every day. Old meat roll is the specialty learned from the father. What you see is daily lives of people of Chiayi in early times. We walk in the old street, bakers, craftsmen of foot of the incense stick, lantern craftsmen, typographic printing technicians, cheongsam tailors, old clinics, old photo studios and department stores.
